Long-distance hiking trail along the Große Mühl.
0 km  Start at the church in Klaffer. Walk past the herb garden (well worth a visit) and you are immediately on the Sonnenweg. Continue left here. Immediately afterwards, leave the road and turn right downhill onto the meadow path and cross the footbridge over the Große Mühl river in the valley. The path leads you uphill through the Torfau nature reserve.
Before the village of Seitelschlag, continue left along the field path. You are accompanied by a wonderful view over the wide Mühl valley. The beautiful blackwood chapel invites you to pause for a moment (bench).
At the tarmac road, turn left and you will soon reach the Resch construction company. Here you can take a detour of about 800 metres to the Ulrichsberg market. However, turn right towards Stangl. Before the first farmstead, don't overlook the turn-off to the left.
A beautiful field path follows to

6 km  Naturflussbad, where you cross the river again. Here you can take a 700m detour to Ulrichsberg market. However, you march downstream on the northern bank along the Wiesensteig to Erlet. Cross the bridge here. Immediately afterwards, you continue along the romantic river on the southern bank. Cross the bridge at Bruckhäuseln and walk back along the northern bank to the Aigen-Schlägl outdoor pool. Pass the outdoor pool. Turn right into Mühlstraße (if you are taking a detour to Aigen, then turn left).
Immediately afterwards, turn left into the Schlägl-Ödenkirchen road and continue along the pavement, crossing the next roundabout. You will soon arrive at

13 km  Schlägl Abbey (well worth a visit). Continue along the road, which turns into an old tree-lined avenue. You will soon cross the Mühlkreisbahn railway track
At the lovingly renovated Steinbloßhaus, the so-called Bruckmühle, turn left and soon turn right onto the meadow path, which leads you towards the forest. Follow the signs W1 through the forest. You will emerge from the forest.
The former pepper mill is located on the opposite bank. The path now leads away from the Große Mühl and you come to the small village of Minihof. Here you turn right again down to the river and cross it over the bridge. To the left, the hiking trail initially continues along a little-used access road before leading downhill into the beautiful meadow and forest path, which accompanies you to the idyllically situated

20 km  Furtmühle (bridge). Old trade routes crossed here. One led here from Aigen along the Große Mühl, the more important one was a salt route, the connection between Rohrbach and South Bohemia. A toll station was set up at the Furtmühle mill.
The hiking trail signposting W1 ends at the Furtmühle mill. If you would like to continue to Haslach, follow the Große Runde steep-step trail, trail no. 78.
On the southern bank along the river, continue along the road to Gattergaßling. Turn left in the village and shortly turn slightly right onto the meadow path. At the forest entrance after the access road, continue left to the Große Mühl. Along the banks of the Große Mühl downstream to the

24.1 km  Kranzling leisure centre and on to the

25 km  Haslach marketplace. Bus connection from Haslach via Rohrbach to Aigen-Schlägl, Ulrichsberg and Klaffer possible. If you would like to continue to Haslach railway station, follow the Michlweg trail no. 76 from Haslach market square towards the parish church. The Church of St Nicholas is the most impressive late Gothic church in the Upper Mühlviertel. The presbytery with ribbed vaulting dates from around 1350 and the tower, which today stands free and was built as a defence tower, is a landmark of Haslach.
Pass the church on the left, cross the steps and then turn right towards Stegmühle. After the bridge, turn right along the Steinerne Mühl. From here you have a beautiful view of the ring wall and the corner tower.

25.6 km  Shortly before the next bridge, turn left towards Haslach railway station. Before doing so, it is worth making a detour to the right over the bridge to the Mühlviertler Ölmühle and the Manufaktur Haslach. Linseed oil has been pressed in the Mühlviertel oil mill for more than 500 years. (Visits by appointment). The Haslach manufactory can also be visited by appointment.
You can see the various processing methods step by step, from the raw wool to the finished product. From here you have a very good view of the imposing building of the former Vonwiller weaving mill, where the Mechanical Sound Factory Museum has been open to the public since 2007. You can also see the largest iron (the mangle with a length of 12 metres) in its own glass building in the garden with dyer's plants. The trail leads along the Mühl on meadow and forest paths as well as the last section on an asphalt road to the

27.9 km  Magerl Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue left and after 300 metres you will reach

28.1 km  Haslach station. Here you can take the Mühlkreisbahn railway to Aigen-Schlägl. From there you can take the Postbus to the starting point in Klaffer.
