Short cross-border (Czech Republic) cycle route in the Bohemian Forest holiday region!
Cross-border (travel documents).Short cycle tour with a short, steeper ascent and hardly any car traffic. Asphalt and forest roads.
0 km Oberhaag. Cycle along the main road in the direction of the Diendorf/Kyselov border crossing. After 2.5 km, please do not overlook the turn-off to the right onto the Schwemmkanal cycle route. Now cycle comfortably and evenly on the sanded forest road past the Glöcklschleuse lock to the
6 km Iglbach/Doppelbrücke bridge. During the summer months, the Scheiterschwemmen take place here just like in the old days (dates at www.boehmerwald.at). On the following stretch to Rosenhügel/Koranda, engineer Rosenauer (forestry engineer under Prince Schwarzenberg) proved that the alluvial canal can cross the main watershed between the Danube and the Vltava/Elbe. After a successful test, Rosenauer happily stated: "As the snow in the St. Thomas district has already melted, I will make a start with 80 people on 4 May 1789."
7.6 km At Rosenhügel/Koranda (large crossroads, shelter hut), cycle left along the crumbling asphalt road downhill to the hollow. Take the left branch at the crossroads and you will reach the banks of the Vltava reservoir
11.5 km. In 1957, the Vltava was dammed near Lipno for a hydroelectric power station. Many villages have sunk into the lake. You drive over the dam and see the Bayrische Au (high moorland) on the left. The road now leads to a crossroads. Straight ahead you will reach Přední Zvonková, on the right the road leads to the Kyselov - Dolni Vlatavice ferry. However, take the path to the left. Pass the former Czech customs house and shortly afterwards you will pass the
14.5 km Diendorf border crossing. There is now a short, steep climb before the canal road crosses the main road. Straight ahead, the tarmac road leads you back to the starting point
18 km Oberhaag.
