Enjoy the fantastic view from the plateau!
The Kühstein (710 m) was probably a pagan sacrificial site in pre-Christian times (also Kürstein, küren = to select, Kiriche = place of assembly). Situated between Oberpeilstein and Meisingeröd, the Kühstein has become a beautiful excursion destination. Several hiking trails also meet here. The somewhat grim face on the southeast side does not keep climbers from practising their skills on the rocks. Nevertheless, this rock castle has retained its ancient historical grandeur. Our ancestors from prehistoric times used the large bowl at the summit for sacrifices. They also came here to choose their bards. Five pine trees adorn the summit, they are about 140 years old. There is a good view to the northeast into the small Mühltal valley, and you can also enjoy the sunrise. Two ramparts bear witness to an early castle around 1300 and a wooden chapel stood at the foot of the rock around 1600. Energetically, the Kühstein is connected to the nearby Bründlstein.
Trail can be walked on, depending on snow conditions.
